‘Brosella’s atypical clinics’

The vzw De Vrienden Van Brosella has the intention to develop the ‘Brosella’s atypical clinics’.

Musicians, wether or not scheduled at the festival, will be invited to run during a week a workshop, focussing on unusual musical instruments.

Professionals, non professional musicians and music students of the Kunsthumaniora and the Conservatory of Brussels are the intended audience. Brosella wants to offer them the opportunity to discover or to improve their skills on less common instruments, coached by an (inter)national top musician. A new valuable initiave, focussing on a longer period in time, rather than a single afternoon session.

Brosella wants to create, through this project, the possibility for young and new talented performers to get in touch with music professionals from different countries. They will have the opportunity to become acquainted with folk, jazz and other music styles from all over the world. On top, they will be able to initiate contacts for possible cultural exchanges and close cooperation in the near future.

The possibility to create a musical work and to present it live during the festival, is left open. The main focus is not on finalising a new composition. Brosella wants to avoid that the participants’ creativity ends up stressed or restricted.

Brosella organises one Clinic this year (harmonica) to prepare the next edition of 2011.
