Costel Nitescu & Lévis Reinhardt Trio
(France)
Costel Nitescu: violin; Lévis Adel-Reinhardt: guitar; Joan Eche-Puig: double bass.
Whether he’s playing contemporary jazz, jazz Manouche or the Gipsy jazz repertoire, Costel Nitescu always manages to make his violin sound pure and perfect, a deeper inner reflection of his soul. Together with Lévis Reinhardt, Django Reinhardt’s great grandson, he’s presenting a repertoire, made of own work, jazz standards and arrangements of Django songs. A sparkling trio, blessed with talent and built on essential technical foundations, that offers at every concert exceptional musical highlights, through breathtaking virtuosity and swinguante energy : three artists in total harmony.

Those who heard for the very first time Costel Nitescu in concert with the Tchavolo Schmitt quartet, Mandino Reinhardt, Didier Lockwood, Marcel Loeffler, Stochelo Rosenberg or Romane, undertstood immediately that they were facing a true phenomenon. Born in Roumania in 1970, Costel endorses classical training and is appointed first violin at the National Orchestra of Radio Bucarest at the age of sixteen. He also starts recording with prestigious Romanian artists like the accordion player Ionica Minoune. Now, living for about fifteen years in Paris, Costel Nitescu is constantly playing wherever swing is dominating the jazz scene. He’s totally comfortable with the traditional music of Central Europe, as he is with jazz, where his swing feeling and his tremendous ability to improvise, makes him the perfect heir of Stéphane Grappelli. It is no coincidence that he chooses for his first personal album to record a tribute to Stéphane Grappelli, ma de with a little madness and lots of enthusiasm, injecting a touch of contemporay jazz. He blends different genres, generating a melting pot made of bop improvisations and the sparkling originality of Gipsy music.

Born in 1997, Lévis Adel-Reinhardt, great grandson of Django Reinhardt, is still very young, but he’s already a very talented and expienced musician. As a child he was immersed in Django’s music and very soon, he started to play with prestigious artists like Tchavolo Schmitt, Romane, David Reinhardt, Noé Reinhardt, Richard Manetti, Adrien Moignard, Samy Daussat, ... Lévis is declared winner of the SACEM 2010 competition and in 2011 he’s invited at the Off of one of the most prestigious jazz festivals, ‘Jazz à Juan’, to perform with Pierre Manetti and Vivien Aubé. Lévis Adel-Reinhardt writes a new, fresh and inspiring chapter of the Reinhardt family book.

Born in 1980, Joan Eche-Puig earned a degree at the CNSM in Paris (Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris). Ever since, he’s being building an interesting carreer through various musical ensembles : in jazz with the Anne Paceo Triphase trio, in Fado music with Carina Salvado, with Ode Paname in theater chanson and finally, with La Escucha Interior performing choreographic concerts. Joan is passionate about melody and in love with Gipsy jazz. One can find him regularly part of ensembles, conducted by Benoît Convert, Adrien Moignard or Richard Manetti.
