A monologue written by Carmien Michels and music by Tijl Piryns
Emma’s husband is on a business trip. As a gesture of mercy, she starts locking strangers into her cellar. A pregnant woman, who was asking for a coin at the station. An Afghan man, who was repeatedly watching her at the supermarket. An older couple, that was expulsed from its home. But six people in a basement is as easy to manage as a city with fourty different cultures. When the situation threatens to explode, Emma is forced to look for alternatives.

Carmien Michels (1990) studied literature at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp. She writes, performs, presents and teaches. She won the NTR-Radio prize in the Netherlands in 2011 and was declared Belgian vice-champion Poetry Slam in 2012. Her first novel “We zijn water” was published by De Bezige Bij in October 2013.

Tijl Piryns (1984) studied drums under the guidance of Mario Goossens and moved on studying at Jazzstudio and at the Conservatory. Being multifunctional, he already shared the stage with Bart Peeters, Roland, Pieter Embrechts, Mira, Rocco Granata and runs his own band You Raskal You.
