The name Oratnitza refers to a ritual cleansing by fire, performed before ‘Shrovetide’ (spring festivity that comes on the eve of Easter Lent). The style is even more unusual - a mixture of Bulgarian folklore, Aboriginal motifs (executed on didgeridoo), dubstep, drum ‘n’ bass and orthodox chanting. The trancelike, sweeping rhythms of their music invite the audience to a collective musical voyage. Until the present day there hasn't been a single occasion on which people didn't intuitively start dancing. Oratnitza is bringing a new wave to the Balkanbeat scene and it’s called ‘Bulgarbeat’.

The band performed two years ago at Balkan Trafik and presented last years its debute album at Brosella Folk & Jazz.
