Renato Borghetti

Les membres du Renato Borghetti Quartet sont originaires des gauchos du Rio Grande do Sul, la région la plus méridionale du Brésil, qui partage ses frontières avec l’Argentine et l’Uruguay. Le leader Renato Borghetti est un virtuose de la ‘gaïta ponto’, un accordéon diatonique à boutons ou mélodéon, à la sonorité plus profonde que l’accordéon normal. Renato mêle de façon toute personnelle les genres musicaux traditionnels de sa région comme la milonga, la chacarera et le chamamé avec des touches de pop, jazz, fado et tango.
« Borghettinho » comme l’appelle ses fans, joue et enregistre des CD depuis plus de 20 ans sans jamais se départir de son style résolument gaucho. Il a partagé la scène avec des artistes tels que Stéphane Grappelli, Ron Carter ou encore Hermeto Pascoal. Il est aussi le premier musicien brésilien à avoir obtenu un disque d’Or avec de la musique purement instrumentale. Son dernier projet « Fandango !» (CD et DVD) a été enregistré chez lui, dans son ranch, transformé en studio pour l’occasion. Élu meilleur CD/DVD de l’année à Porto Alegre et nominé pour un Grammy Latino, il est sorti en Europe en mars 2009 sous le label Felmay.
Voir jouer Renato Borghetti et ses acolytes est un spectacle en soi, avec des échanges de « balles » très énergiques et plein d’humour.
