Het Georgiaans trio The Shin (de weg naar huis) werd opgericht in 1998 in Duitsland. De muzikanten van The Shin zijn levende legendes en behoren tot de artistieke elite van Georgië. Ze zijn vooral bekend om hun opvallende fusie van originele muziek van Georgië met jazz. Ze schreven de muziek voor verschillende producties van het Staatstheater van Tbilisi en zijn ook de auteurs van talloze partituren voor film-, TV en radioprojecten in binnen- en buitenland.
Met hun nieuwste project, “The Black Sea Fire”, dat de muziek van Georgië en de Zwarte Zee in vuur en vlam zet, presenteert The Shin de dans van een mysterieuze cultuur, de mythe van de Zwarte Zee met zijn vuur, zijn temperament, zijn diepte, zijn emoties en zijn uniek en zouterig gevoel voor humor … In de Griekse mythologie was vuur een voorrecht van de goden van de Olympus. De stervelingen hadden er geen toegang toe omdat de goden vreesden dat de mensen het juiste gebruik ervan niet zouden aankunnen. Op een dag stal Prometheus het heilige vuur en gaf het aan de mensheid. Toen hij in de Kaukasus werd gebracht om gestraft te worden door Zeus, viel een vonk van het gestolen vuur in het water, een vonk die zo de Zwarte Zee in brand stak, vandaar de titel “The Black Sea Fire”. Het Georgiaans trio stelt dit project op het festival voor, samen met de meest bekende Bulgaarse kavalspeler, Theodosii Spassov, de Hongaarse vioolvirtuoos Zoltan Lantos en twee buitengewoon acrobatische dansers.
